ok i installed windows 7 on it and when i check the video card details it says that i have 499mb and that 446 is being used and only 64 i could use and now i cant play my games cause i dont have enough video memory how can i fix this and i cant istall win xp again cause i cant find the drivers anywhere|||I hate having to type this here but according to Dell the Inspiron 531S does not appear to be compatible with Windows 7.
You will need to reinstall XP, otherwise you will need to consider a new video card and bios in order to run Windows 7.
There are several websites offering drivers for various windows systems and hardware. Your XP disk will have some older drivers to get you started, you can update the XP OS via updater and can also got to the Windows update site and specify it search for updates to drivers.
